Advisory Norms in S141
1. Entering/Exiting - Line up against the fence outside the room before class begins. Do not barge or rush the door and do not bang on the door to be let in. Same when we exit; no rushing the door and make sure your chairs are pulled in. Remain by your chair until the teacher excuses you. The bell does not excuse you, the teacher does.
2. Pledge/Announcements – Pledge is done every day. Make sure your chair is down and you are standing and participating once the pledge begins. Afterwards, we push in our chairs and remain quiet until announcements are completed. You do not want to miss important information during this time.
3. Coming Prepared – You may bring your backpacks. Always have something to write with and a book to read. Come prepared to class so you do not have to go back to your locker or use the restroom. This is crucial in your Work Habits grade. We’re only in here for 20 minutes folks!
4. Homework Help – These are days when we do not have an activity, lesson, or test prep. You should have a book to read, homework to get caught up on, daily planner to get organized, or studying to do.
5. Above The Line – We have this school-wide written activity every Tuesday. Everyone participates and we will have tough real life scenarios to figure out. This is a very important part of your Work Habits grade as well.
6. Sustained Reading - Every Friday make sure you have a reading book. Have a book and be quiet during this time.
7. Weekly Bulletin – Every Monday we will have a class reader to read the bulletin in the front of the class.
8. Class Monitors - We change these jobs out routinely. These jobs will be designated by the teacher and will help your cooperation grade in Advisory.
They include:
Phone Answerer
Date Changer
Attendance Monitor
Bulletin Reader
Flyer Distributor
9. Being on Time - Over 3 Unexcused Tardies is a “U” in Advisory. Have your parents give you a signed note to me if you are running late that day.
10. Following by Example – Electronic devices should be not taken out at this time unless there is an emergency. Also, eating is prohibited including chewing gum. Following by example means that I too will also never be seen pulling out my phone unless there is an emergency or eating or chewing gum in class during Advisory.
