Math /SCOPE Enrichment activity criteria:
1. Grow an edible plant from seed.
2. Record the height of your plant once per week after it sprouts in a table of values
3. Photograph or draw your plant each week as you record the growth data
4. After collecting a minimum of 5 weeks of data, write and solve proportions to find the percent of change (growth) each week.
5. Create a line graph using the data from your table.
6. Write a narrative paragraph describing your experience. Include what you found interesting or enjoyed, and what you would do to improve next time and what you learned from the experience (and anything else you would like to share).

Additions: Include the growth rate on each segment of the line graph
Include the line of best fit (approximate) and write the equation of the line of best fit

Format: The presentation format is your choice. Possibilities include: a book, poster, power point or video.

Graph the 7 equations we wrote down in class today. Find the slope using slope formula and find y-intercept by substituting x = 0.

Take your CST released questions and personal math book to advisory on Wednesday, 1/16/13. Do #6-13 in your personal math book. Show your strategy or justification for each question. Look up what you don't remember in your text or personal math book during advisory so you will be prepared to present at the beginning of class.

Graph the 10 equations from 1/10/13 (in your personal mathbook and on our class website originally due 1/11/13). Write each equation. Chose x values (4 for each equation). Evaluate or solve for y value. Write the four ordered pairs in a table of values and graph them to find the graph of the linear equation. Graph a maximum of one linear equation per coordinate plane and graph no more than two per each side of paper, so it will take a minimum of 5 pieces of graph paper. Remember to extend your lines through the coordinate plane, draw arrows on either end, and label with the equation. If they are not making lines, find and fix your error. It may be an evaluation error or a graphing error. If you need help, meet with me or go to Mrs. Meyer's tutoring in E221 at 7:30 am.
