Mariachi (Period 7) Assignments

Mariachi is a one year course. Mariachi students will learn basic musical skills necessary to perform mariachi music. Many styles of Mariachi music will be studied, including Son, Ranchera, and Bolero. Instruments needed are violin, trumpet, guitar, vihuela, and guitarron. Auditions will be held for violin and trumpet. Training for acoustic guitar, vihuela, and guitarron is available, but spaces are limited. Singers are welcome, too! Mariachi students are required to practice a minimum of four hours per week outside of the classroom. (This is your "homework.") Tests will given periodically to assess progress. participation in all rehearsals and performances is MANDATORY. (Please enter all performance dates and times onto your personal calendars to avoid conflicts.) A minimum grade point average of 2.00 is required to be academically eligible to perform. Rules for classroom behavior are to be followed at all times.
